Volunteer Spotlight…
Ken Bozek lives in South Hadley with his parents and cat, Bo, and he also has a sister, Cathy, who lives in Washington DC. He began volunteering about two years ago, when Betty Hide with New England Business Association suggested he do some community volunteering. Ken had never been in Gaylord Library, so he stopped by and asked if we needed volunteers, and he has been coming to volunteer every Thursday afternoon since then. Ken rarely misses a volunteer shift, and not only that, but he generally walks to the Library - in all kinds of weather! He is also a member of the Adult Book Group and frequently attends programs, including Friday Tea-Time.
In addition to volunteering at the Library, Ken devotes a great deal of time and effort to advocating for animals. He volunteers at a local animal shelter and in 2008, he worked diligently to get Ballot Question 3 passed to eliminate Greyhound dog racing in Massachusetts. Ken also works part-time at Cumberland Farms.
When asked what he likes about Gaylord Library, Ken said he likes the people, and added, "And I hope they like me!" We all certainly do like Ken, and also appreciate the many important tasks he does at the Library every week.

"Imagining the banks of the Seine in the thick of la vie moderne, Vreeland (Girl in Hyacinth Blue) tracks Auguste Renoir as he conceives, plans and paints the 1880 masterpiece that gives her vivid fourth novel its title."
